TACCP or Threat Analysis Critical Control Point is relatively new and was introduced as a requirement of BRC Version 8, this was developed in response to the increase to food fraud in recent years.

What is Food Fraud? The most recognisable incident was the Horse Meat Scandal, declaring the contents of certain products to be Beef when in fact it was Horse Meat. This is just one prominent example, Food Fraud is a wide term and relates to ‘the deliberate and intentional substitution, addition, tampering, or misrepresentation of food’.

How can we help? We can assess potential threats to your business based on current information and historical data, develop a detailed plan as to how these threats can be managed and controlled and implement a TACCP System as part of your Food Safety Management System.

VACCP or Vulnerability Assessment Critical Control Point and TACCP marry together in the mission to ensure transparency and accurate representation of products throughout the Food Chain; both are designed to prevent the adulteration of Food.

VACCP was also introduced through BRC Version 7- To ensure compliance with the standard company must have a vulnerability assessment in place.

VACCP identifies the potential threats from an economic and behavioral perspective, whilst TACCP identifies the weak link within your business; assessing where a company’s vulnerabilities are leaving them open to potential adulteration.

How can we help? We can assess potential vulnerability based on current information and historical data, develop a detailed plan as to how these potential vulnerabilities can be managed and control and implement a VACCP System as part of your Food Safety Management System.
